City to Travel to Baltimore to take on Sporting Maryland

East Coast Trip to begin National League Season

Lansing City Futsal will kick off the 2018 National League of Professional Futsal season when they travel next weekend to Baltimore, Maryland to take on Sporting Maryland and to Metuchen, New Jersey to take on Copa FC. Sporting Maryland is last year's National League Eastern Conference Champions and advanced to the NLP finals where they lost in double overtime to Knowens Futsal. Sporting boasts a very experienced roster with talented offensive players such as Vini Dantas (Brazil), Juan Perirrea (Brazil), and Daniel Peruzzi (Brazil). They are one of the favorites to win it all! Copa FC has featured a strong NPSL soccer team for a couple years now and recently formed a futsal team to compete in the National League. Copa has a deep roster with talented soccer players who are making the transition to futsal quite well. Both matchups will be a good test for City.

Sporting is definitely a talented team and Copa seems to be coming into a good rhythm as a team after watching their first two games this season. Starting out on the road is a challenge but we are ready. This is why we play. To take on these challenges head on and get back home with two victories - City Player Jeremy Klepal

Bright Signs for city in Reserve Match against Wanderers

City played a reserve match against the Great Lakes Wanderers last Thursday. Coach Derby, rostered three professional players for the match in an effort to prepare for the upcoming East Coast trip. City dominated the game winning 9-1. We saw some great creativity from City's Emmanuel Belliard, who began to show promising signs of rhythm and direction to City's attack. Youth Academy call ups, Benny Al-Ashari, and Bu Reh, showed great promise for the future as they orchestrated some great creative play in the attacking third of the court. Hopefully some of the chemistry progresses over into City's away trip next weekend.
