City Blows out Mitwest 10-3

City finishes round robin with a bang

Going into the FCS series, City seemed to be firing on all cylinders. Two pre-season game wins with dominate performances were carrying them in. Then not just one but two disappointing results to begin the series. Both games lost by narrow margins and but losses nonetheless. Countless mistakes and careless plays put City in a hole. But this game. This is the one we knew City was capable of. From the kickoff whistle, to the final second ticking off the clock it was a game dominated by City. Stout defensive character, fast creative attacking, and the ability to withstand critical challenges in the game was demonstrated by City. The game wasn't free of challenges and Mitwest had spurts of momentum including a power play in the second half due to a red card by City's Trent Amundson. But City held strong throughout the entire match. The only momentary lapse coming in a 2 minute segment in the first half when City gave up two needless goals. But besides those two minutes it was a rock solid performance by City.

Chemistry is growing in the squad

Victoria and Messinger have proved to be key players in this team for City. Messinger played for Lansing City's USL2 team last summer and has proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the futsal game.  Victoria played for City last season and was late returning to the squad due to soccer responsibilities but is here now and looks great in the City rotation! Shefkiu had probably the game of his career in this match. Making tackle after tackle and keeping maintaining a steady possession of the ball for City. Pierce was solid in net making all the saves he usually makes but adding a couple that maybe before would have slid in. His distribution has proved to be a solid addition to the City attack and has allowed players like David Saltsman to contribute in the counterattack more efficiently.

with the win City will place third and will take on number two seed, BIH, in the playoff match this Saturday (December 10th) at 6:30 PM at the Lansing City Arena.
