The Showdown with Sporting

On June 8th City will take on Sporting Maryland

This might be the most anticipated game of the season. Sporting had dominated the series beating City 3 times.  However, ever since last year's crazy high paced matchup that saw City take down Sporting and end their undefeated season, the anticipation for round 2 began! Now here we are a year later for City VS Sporting in Lansing Round Two!

The matchup

Currently, Sporting is 2-0-1 on the season, again unbeaten, with their only tie coming from a hard fought battle against New York Ecuador. City is currently 3-2 with two wins against Copa FC, New Jersey, and a huge win at home vs Toronto United.

Players to Watch

Sporting Maryland returns their acrobatic and exceptionally skilled goalkeeper Mike Shifflet, along with Sporting veteran Ryan Russell and Baltimore Blast MASL Star Juan Pereira (pictured right). Sporting adds to the squad another Baltimore Blast member, Johnny Orlando who has proved to be an attacking threat early on in the season.

City Returns steady Fixo Jared Wilson-Santos who has been the defensive backbone of the team since inception. City, Ala, Jeremy Klepal also returns this season and has put up some monster numbers in the five games played with 11 goals and 11 assists. City welcomes a new star this National League season in, Aldony Mendez who has recorded 9 goals and 3 assists so far this season.
