An Absolute Thriller Earns City a Point and a Shot at Playoffs
City took on ABK in a battle for both teams to stay in the playoff race. City needed a win or a tie to stay in it. ABK needed a win. The game started out as all City Vs ABK games do. Aggressive and overly intense. City struck first with a breakaway goal by Darus Ward, but then turned around to give one up to ABK 30 seconds after. That proved to be the pace for the rest of the first half with each time scoring and then the other team matching the effort with a goal of their own. Halftime ended with ABK up by a score of 4-3.
Second Half explosion by Klepal
City started the second half with a bang with Klepal scoring an absolute stunner from the outside wing. That brought the game to an even 4-4. Shortly after ABK answered with a goal of their own, and then another and another. City found themselves down 7-4 and had to get at least a point to stay alive. A brilliant strike by Dylan Lack brought City within one. A penalty kick goal by Klepal brought City even closer. And then another goal by Klepal off a transition tied it up! It was 7-7 with 3 minutes left to go. Two quick goals by ABK again put City in a hole, down 9-7. This time the other Klepal (Jared) answered with a smooth strike from just inside the arc. That put it within shooting distance for City being down 9-8. With one minute left to go, City's Jared Wilson-Santos was fouled earning City a penalty kick. Jeremy Klepal stepped up and slammed it in the back of the net, tying the game 9-9. The game ended in a draw 9-9 with both teams earning a point. City's playoff hopes are still alive!
